I ordered my car new in 1996. Drove it daily
through Collage until just after I got married. 1 day I saw 3 white
GT's exactly like mine....I didn't like that....let the mods began!!
I bought, painted and installed the Roush body kit with side exhaust
in 98, wheels in 99, PI headswap in 2000. Job and married life made
it difficult to save money up for serious mods. I'm sure most of
you know what that's like! Did the basic bolt on's and wanted to
add a blower. Started doing lot's of research, and since I couldn't
afford it, I'd do more research...
Just over 2 years ago, I was able to financially drop some coin on
the car and go for it. I seriously looked at buying a cobra, sn95
body of course, but I couldn't find one in as good of shape as
mine. So I took the plunge. Starting with the suspension and into
the drivetrain and engine... Aiming for power to spare, handleing
that is track worthy, and having the car beef'd up enough to take it
all, and still be reliable. It's been a long project and is nearing
completion. (maybe)
One thing I'm proud of is that I've done all the work on this car
myself: Brakes, suspension, engine removal, transmission, nitrous
interior ect ect was all me. I paid to have my engine assembled and
tuned (livernois forged stroker). The tuner had a nitrous backfire
blowing the ends out of the PI IM, and did a few other things while
it was appart.
Once back together it's time for some custom body work. Mucho
research here, and I just don't like most all of the body kits, as
well as a few parts of the mustang's body lines. For this Tidwell
Customs here in SLC really pulled thorugh. about 3 months at their
shop, hundreds of hours of sanding blending and skilled labor
produced the body lines I wanted. The car was repainted white with
custom metalic pearl. Stealth 3rd brake light, shaved badges &antenne.
front cover reworked, sideskirts & door bottoms completely reworked
and blended in seamless, rear bumper custom addition to bottom and
blended seamless. all in all, I love how it turned out. Clean and
tastefully done with a number of custom touches.
Now that ALLL this is done, it's time for a blower. Here again I've
looked at all of them, and was planning on twin turbo when I started
these modifications. Looking at my NA power curve and talking with
Truuble about the Rotrex supercharger, we decided that it would do
well on my combo, and They want to see what their blower will do on
a built motor. So I'm headed to Scottsdale, AZ to get it custom
fit. Soon to be Rotrex supercharged Modular mustang #1.
I'm pretty excited for that. The quest for more power, and my anal
attention to detail... It's been a long time coming. Throughout all
this, I've enjoyed talking shop and chatting with all you guys here
on SN95forums... Beacuse of great members like you, we're the best
mustang site on the net.
