I want to upgrade my mustangs rear suspension for more straight line performance. What are the best things to do at the back end. Do these cars respond well to a rear coil over setup? I would like to be able to adjust the rear ride height on my car and maybe pinion angle without getting into a bunch of fab work.

I looked at the MM LCA, but they only allow a 1" adjustment lower than stock. The bolt on coil over setup I was looking into is from this company. www.modularmustangracing.com it says NO welding required. up to 3" adjustment up or down. Just wanted to know if anybody else has looked into or run this setup.

if your dead set on coil over for drag racing the santhuff, qa1, strange to name a few for coil overs. Get the mm rlca without spring perches or sway bar mounts. Get an anti-roll bar welded in. adj. uca drag radials or slicks. 14 in 135lbs springs in front with a nice drag strut.

the MM arms only allow 1 inch of raise but 2 inch of lowering. Why would you want to raise your car more than an inch?

I want to be able to lower it more than 1". I thought I read from their site the MM only would give you a 1" drop. I don't care about raising the rear I want to drop it so the tires fit inside the wheel wells better.

since you want to lower the car you need some Different springs, then you use the MM adjustable arms to fine turn the height if the car

well are you wanting straight line performance or just a bad ass stance. You really have to choose because lowering thr rear will not help with the wieght transfer. You could always get some big meats for the rear. :coolsmiley:

Both dont really go together very well.

If you want a bad ass stance with a SN95 it need to be SLAMMED around 2 inches..... When you lower the rear that much it ruins weight transfer to rear.

ReplicaR had some good info in another thread. He said that for optimum handling the ball joints should not be above the point where the LCA meets the k member. This usually is about an 1 1/4" of a drop, which to me is not enough for a "killer stance."

I think you need to define what you want a little closer.
are you going to drag whore this car? or run it on the street, and occasioinally on the strip.

For lowered stance, and good rear traction, you need to keep the axle centered as best you can.
LCA's are where to start,
A lot of ppl state that 3-link and panhard is for road course only. that's not really true, they really benefit launching and keep the car straight. there's just less weight transfer on a lowered car.

also chassi flex causes the car to break loose easier, so sub frames are a good idea.
there's a lot of info in the STICKY thread in this forum, check it out, as suspension is fairly complex relative to what you want to do.

Tires play a big role as well..
it goes on.

Get any non adjustable after market lowers, Get a set of double adjustable after market uppers...pick any flavor. Don't matter. 4 cylinder fox springs (cut off a half a coil if you want more drop). strange 8 way adjustable shocks.

Want to get a lil more in depth, put an airbag in the right rear OR get a weld in roll bar....BUT with a 26x 10.5 ET Street on a 15" rim, If you can chop off a 1.5x 60ft time with about 3-4 degrees pinion angle, either YOUR TRACK SUCKS or YOU SUCK.

PERIOD. You don't have to spend an bucket full of cash to go fast AND look good.

I'm just a newbie with these Ford Mustangs and little 5.0s. I thought for sure somebody on here tried one of the coil over kits available for these Sn95. No biggie..I appreciate all the input.

You don't need coil overs to hook. There is more to be had with control arms and shocks ....even with stock springs.
