I'm replacing the stock wheels on my '95 GT. Haven't decided on exactly what model of wheels to get, though I'm leaning towards 95 cobra r style. The fronts are no issue, 17x9's most likely with 245/45-17 tires. The rears are where I'm in need of assistance. I love the look of the deep dish wheels, but the selection of 315/35-17 tires is very limited and very expensive. I live in the midwest, so the biggest issue with this size is the complete lack of tires that work well in the cold. I've checked with several tire manufacturer's websites, and they show that a 275/40-17 will work on wheels ranging from 9-11 inches wide, and they come in a variety of good all-season models. Has anyone tried running a 275/40-17 on a 17x10.5 wheel? A few pictures would be a great help.

Thats probably going to be hard to find some one who has done that. To give you an idea of what it may look like here is a pic of my 18x10's using 285/35's

Trying to picture and extra 1/2 inch and a more narrower tire I think it may look too small. I kinda wish I went with 18x9's all around so I could have a better selection of tires and be able to rotate them as well :(.

I am from the Midwest and was fortunate enough not to have to drive my car during the Winter months. So I got a set of 315/35/17 Vredestein Sessantas. They are strictly a performance tire but have "A's" for all ratings (Traction, Temp., Treadwear, etc.). If you're getting a 10.5" rear tire, don't go any smaller than a 295 unless you absolutely have to. Here's what mine look like with the FR500's:

I've been doing alot of browsing through tire websites, and it looks like 295 and 305 tire widths for 17 inch wheels are not available in any useful size for a mustang. Looking at wytstang's setup, I might be able to squeak some 285/40-17's on the back, which would go well with some 255/45-17's on the front. Both sizes are available with an all season tire, and are very similar in diameter. It would be nice to see how that looks before I spent my money, but it's looking like I'm not going to find anyone running this setup to post pictures.

The NT05's im grabbing are 315's for a 17" rim. I run 10.5 in the rear. Whats wrong with one of those?
