Hello, new to Mustangs but the car we have is in need of tires, thought about it and looked at the current 245 /50 16" on stock aluminum mag rims seems to be a bit oversized. Stock according to tire rack is 205 65 15", or 225 55 16"

I was figuring' a smaller tire would help in a number of ways - less unsprung mass, less rotational mass, lowers car, gives a "lower" (numerically higher) drive ratio for better acceleration (slightly). Must fit stock rims, or you can give suggested rims.

I was thinking something like this:

We can't use under 200 treadwear and making it last a little longer isnt' a bad thing for a budget race series. Will have second set however.

TIA - S

I'm assuming this is a 3.8L car. 3.8's came std. with a steel or alum. 6.5" wide wheel with a 205/65-15. For this go with a 205/60 if available.

If this one has the 7.5" wide 16" GT wheel option? Go with a 225/50-16. It's shorter than the 225/55 and still fills the wheel out.

Gotta have grip if you can get it!
