I just bought some 10th anniversary mustang rims 17 x 9/ 17 x 10.5 for my 96 gt. I've heard all kinds of mixed reviews on how to do these right to eliminate rubbing. I haven't bought any tires yet. I don't particularly want to purchase a 260 fender rolling tool.... what's recommended here? Tires, spacers, and fender rolling-wise.

Thanks.

Is your car lowered at all? What size are the rear tires? 275? 315? What size are the front tires? Do you have the quad shocks (little horizontal shocks) in the rear??

My ride was lowered 2" with 275 up front on 17x9" wheels and 315 out back with 17x10.5" wheels and never rubbed once!!

It's not lowered as of now. That's what I'm trying to figure out just what to grab for tires. Sumitomo HTR Z's maybe? 245 front 275 out back? I was hoping someone had experience putting these particular rims on. Everyone in my family owns mustangs but none have early sn95's all 2000 and newer so it's just sorta guessing for them.

Just flip the quad shocks...takes 15 miutes or less...put 275's on the front & 315's on the back & enjoy...no issues on mine

i see no reason you would worry bout 17" wheels with no drop, lol. i was dropped over 2" on 20" wheels w/o any problems. i did however roll my fenders. that was a 10" wheel as well. you could prolly go wider than 275's i'm sure.

I think at full turn with a 275 up front on a x9 you will rub some. But then again I only run a 245/45/17 up front so Im just going off by what I have read. The usual set up is 275/45/17, 315/35/17. Now be watchful on what tire you get, some companies make a bigger 315 than others. Bro's camaro runs a 315/35/17 on a 17x11 and his happen to be the biggest ones made. Read up on whatever tires you want to get first, I'd always say Nitto has been a proven brand with any Mustang but also very pricey.

Next question, how exactly do you go about doing this? I'm a woman, help me out.

lowering springs. out with the old in with the new. ck alignment. If you only lower 1"-1.25" you wan't need CC plates. 1.5" or more, you'll most likely need them.

If you were looking to lower it and be safe without Caster Chamber Plates I'd go with Ford B Springs, mild drop and almost anyone who uses them says they didn't need CC plates. Once you get tires you'll have to have them mounted at a shop. With lower pretty much what CC's said, but I'd highly recommend not doing it yourself if you don't know what to do, the spring can shoot out of place if you take it out wrong and potential hurt you..a lot. A lot of members on here are also from Florida, get them to do it for you LOL!

i have the same size wheels 17 x 9/ 17 x 10.5. and run 245/45 in the front and 275/40 in the rear without any issues. i did a modest drop with FMS "b" springs. i may go with 315/35 in the rear this summer since i couldnt find a 315 all season tire.

no point in going with such small tires. if you're concerned with the fronts, 245 is okay, but 275 is boarderline too small for a 10.5 wheel and will look stretched. you won't have any problems running a 315 on the backs.

a 245 on a 9" wheel is going to look stretched as well. like ProKiller said don't bother with 10.5 rears if you're only going to run a 275 tire.

and for the record the proper size for 17" is 275/40, not 275/45 like mentioned above.

My car has 10th anny's on it, I was running 315 Sumi's and can tell you they are complete trash. Replaced them with BFG 275's in the rear and 255's in front, the tread is almost the same width as the 315 sumi's and has a ton ore traction

I am lowered on Eibach pro kit, no fender rolling, no quad flipping and they have never rubbed

I would run a 275 or a 265 up front. Shouldnt be an issue. As far as the rear goes, like everyone said, to be sure I would flip the quadshock. Put 315/35/17 tires on the rear. and you should be good to go. You wont need to roll your fender.
