I happened across a set of seat swap brackets listed only for New Edge SN95's - https://www.ebay.com/itm/381639085231 - and was curious why the seller was adament these will only fit New Edge Mustangs. From all the info i can find, all SN95 seats are physically interchangable and will bolt in place as the floorpan is the same on all SN95's. There are electrical and padding/materials differences, but that's not what I'm asking about here.

The context for this is that I've long wanted to swap in newer seats that are heated (and maybe even cooled), but the only other bracket source I had found to swap in newer seats was no longer making them. I found this seat bracket eBay auction from a video showing how to put S550 seats in a New Edge SN95, and it reminded me that I have a nice set of 2014 California Special seats sitting in storage that I'd love to adapt to my '97 GT Convertible to get heated seats. I'm pondering picking a set of these brackets up to see if they'll work, but wanted to check and see if there was some nuance here I'm missing.

Very good question!
Sorry that I dont have any info or experience with other seat brackets besides a v6 seat bracket swapped out in favor over the motorized Gt bracket. I will say the sn95 v6 seat brackets allow the seat to sit very low.

I am not aware of any size difference, now 94 I think through 96-97ish seats had adjustable side bolsters and rear lumbar support that I think got axed in the cost cutting of the mid/late 90s. I know my 94 had them but I am not sure what year they cut that cost. The harness may be different but there is a few ways to deal with that.

The base of the driver's seat differs on the 99-04 Mustangs. What bolts to the floorpan is the same, but where the seat tracks bolt to the seat itself is different. It's staggered and uneven while the 94-98 seat bottom is flat.

I'm looking at the auction pics and don't really see anything that looks specific to 99-04 seat but it could just be generic listing pics.

I bolted a set of 99-04 seats into a foxbody using the fox body seat tracks and used washers to make up the difference. I later on swapped to the proper 99-04 power track.

Here's a 99-04 seat bottom. You can see the features on the bottom. Using washers essentially lifts the seat up higher to the point that the 99-04 power track actually made the seat lower than it did with fox tracks and washers.

This is the piece of data I wanted to confirm - thank you!

I don't care about the rest of the SN95 seat structure for the purposes of this question, just that the seat mounting locations/heights and the shape of the floorpan around the seats is the same across all SN95 Mustangs.

Ideally, I'll be able to adapt these aftermarket seat brackets to the 2014 S197 California Special seats I have, but I'm seeing folks saying the S550 seats are even better, so I may need to track down a set of decent 2015+ seats. Getting heated seats is nice, getting heated and cooled seats is even better! :)
