1994 gt steering shaft slid apart

I was driving my 94 gt and the steering shaft slid apart under the dash hitting my foot,luckily I was in a parking lot when it happened.Upon inspection I can see it slides back and forth through the firewall easily and allowing it room to slide apart. Is there something in the firewall that should hold it tight so this doesn't happen?

I looked a little closer and can see a bearing that has fallen out of the firewall.I am having trouble finding one of these.Does anyone know where I can order one of these without going through the dealer?
