My 95 gt has a lot of slop in the steering, the plastic part inside got damaged due to header heat. I found a 1996 shaft from a salvage yard that seems to be in great shape. According to some guys, it will work in my 95. According to some research on Google, it says the 96 shaft wont work due to the rag joint differences at the bottom. Does anyone have the answer to this, before I get it replaced?

Just did mine after 27yrs. Go with a maximum motorsports shaft. You won't be disappointed at all. Tightened it right up. Pricey but we'll worth the money. LMR has them in stock as where going to Maximum Motorsport doesn't. They were waiting on u joints to come in.

Good to know. Thanks. Reason i asked if the factory shaft from a 96 will work in my 95, is because I already have the one out of a 1996.

Unfortunately no, the car is at the shop with the current shaft still intact, and I just dropped off the replacement shaft today. So we will see if it works.

It will work. I put an 03 Cobra shaft in my 95 Cobra.. this was once a pretty popular replacement as they are supposedly a little beefier who knows if thats true tho.

Thanks man!!! I was hoping for that answer. Ofcourse the internet says no, because the rag joint is different.
