Over the past 9 years I've had my car and learned what to do and what not to do. I've cut my teeth and attempted many things in it from HCI, NITROUS and the most recent turbo. She was a phenomenal car and it was pure joy and excitement to drive but a kid came and the car sat while being built for boost.
Now a year later I have my dream home with a 3 car garage and a 3 bay shop (lift and shop air included.)
So I found myself wanting to bring justice to the sn95 and restore a car before it gets out of hand. This build will be updated in conjunction with my day to day life, I'm not a car mechanic by trade I'm a HVAC technician. I will do things different than some.
The car as it sits was painted by me, motor built by me, tuned by me and driven by me. All the things I goofed up on are being used as a stepping stone so things don't happen again. The build is simple budget build for 600hp.
It's going to be a 351w roller based setup (not sure on CI yet) it will be professionally built.
T5 spec 6 puck clutch
302 based hot side that was built for me by Brian Horne at B&G.

I'm going to do body work and paint myself first and then drop motor in along with other possible goodies. This car I want reliable, quick, good looking for cheap lol, mainly I want to be able to throw my daughter in it and bust some ass after getting her from daycare.
Pictures are from this past week so far.
Thank you for reading my long winded post

Thats badass man, I love 351 windsors! But I have to ask why do you want to keep the t5? I like the t5 myself and prefer a stick but I just dont see it lasting with that power level unless you granny it.

T5 won’t last unless it’s built right. They don’t handle 500hp for long, more or less 600.

More or less 600... Miles?

When the time comes, I'm really trying to talk the Mrs into a 351 swap for her 86gt. I just can't imagine the amount of work in adding a turbo though. God bless you, you must be far more patient than I am.

Bg turbo makes kits to do turbo 351’s. Just as easy as turboing the 302.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s gonna cut up their bg 302 kit for a Windsor build. [emoji38]

Yea cutting my 302 kit just for the simplicity it seems to be well designed and good workmanship and honestly I didn't want to wait for another to be made plus the costs lol.
T5 is simply for getting some pulls in and tuning it mainly, I will either tko or maybe a built 3550 I'm not sure yet but auto is a no go. I was going to build it to just go fast but I really like driving it windows down just cruising, I'm planning another sn95 build to be identical to mine except it's going to be built for track.
Turbo is indeed a lot of patience but well worth it considering I'm in my turbo setup for what a HCI setup is and I beat my buddies HCI fox.

Well like normal I've switched directions, 351 is not going in right now due to 2 things 1)money "go figure" and 2) not sure if I want that much power on a car i just want to cruise in. Seems pointless to have 700+ on a t5 that is frail as is and the fact that i want to be that guy that has a reliable turbo car that I'm not constantly screwing with.
So full rebuild on 302 with my gt40 and a f cam on 8lbs should be good for 500whp.
Now for the part my wife hates I got a guy that is selling me his virgin v6 94 for 1,200 when he gets his taxes back so he can buy him a new car. So 351 in that I'll start another build once I get that car, i will probably build me a little small block small tire grudge car.

This is why I sold my perfectly good t5. It forces me to buy a better tranny. Having a hard swallowing the cost of the t56 magnum but it’s gonna be much needed with running a turbo on a 418w.

You can run a t5 on the turbo 418w and ill tell you how

Use all season 245/35/20 on the rear. Harder the compond, the better....none of that sticky stuff!

Yea all these years trying to make it fast and 8lbs on a 302 was really nice for the street and my setup. More power means re doing suspension and all that other stuff, but the other car Is getting 408 or maybe a 5.3 from a unspecified brand.

I have always wanted a grudge car from the first time I went to Piedmont dragways grudge fest; love the idea of backyard mechanics not giving a shit about looks but about how it shakes down the track.

Go ahead and save up for a T-56 Magnum. You'll be glad you did. Not only with the piece of mind, but the extra gear is great on the highway.

Suspension is key to getting the power to the ground. Just don't forget the brakes for the top end.

Where are you from?
I go to Piedmont quite a bit. They are having a big N/T Grudge event this weekend.

I put a 351 based 408 stroker in my ‘94 vert a few years ago. Had to go through several rebuilds on the AODE to get it to hold up, but it’s good now.

i just moved to Elon nc but in Burlington graham area my whole life.
That red car seems oddly familiar around the GSO sonic car meet but that was years back.
I used to be into Honda’s more back then had a d16z6 crx that was my “faster” car.
Haven’t been to many grudge fest things since October of 2016 I believe when a HED new edge tore them up.
I also just bought a wrangler that is getting 31’s and hopefully get to go wheeling this summer at uwharrie.
My wife said I have a problem with cars but hey keeps me from doing bad things.
My final plan is 302 re ringed I just bought 48lb sticks so hopefully a better idle tune will come from it.

I'm actually in a similar situation like you I had to grow up and I've done all those things to my 95gt and I'm in the current 351stage but I will tell you no t5 will live behind that 351. My 351hci blew that thing up in a few weeks. Just an FYI, since then I've been using a t56 best upgrade ever.

Been there done that. I had a tremec in my forged 357. Had problems getting a clutch to hold up, went through a spec stage 3, and 2 custom built. I ended up going to a 2 speed power glide, didn’t have to worry about the clutch any more, only thing slipping was the mt et streets even at a 70mph roll.
