Hello,

First, which valve spring compressor tool is the one to buy these days? I want to try replacing valve seals without removing heads or even the cams.

Hoping to hear from someone who has bought a tool recently and used it on a 1996 4.6 2v

Edit: I bought the OTC one

Now, which seals should I choose? Felpro? Felpro for Valve Cover gaskets too?

What else will I need?

Probably not the best but I used this one years ago to swap out lash adjusters on a 2v. It worked well enough. If you’re going to do valve stem seals yourself, I’d recommend an air compressor with an adaptor to fill the cylinders so the valve won’t drop.

The original spring compress like what 07GtS197 showed ^ works great.

Also them universal ohc spring compressor work great too.

Both tools are not perfect, but with a little practice youll be able to finesse your way good at it

Which seals and valve cover gaskets are best?
What else would make this job easier?

Also a sparkplug air chuck to keep the cylinder pressurized. Itll keep the valves closed.

Some use rope. They fish some rope into the cylinder, run the piston to the top and mash the rope against the valves to prevent the valves from moving. Good idea, but the only negative about this is having to reverse the crank rotation to release the piston so that you can remove the rope. Im not a fan of reversing the crank, releasing tention on the timing chain in its normal direction which it can cause chain slippage on the crank sprocket ultimately ruining cam timing unknowingly

Point me to the right type of spark plug air chuck?

What pressure should I use?
