1997 Ford Mustang GT 4.6L Coolant Leak

Hi all,

I recently discovered that my 97 GT is leaking coolant. I bought the car used recently and it has approximately 34.5k miles. In terms of modifications, the car is mostly stock and has the NPI cams (not sure if this changes anything).

Would anyone be able to chime in on what might be causing this leak? I'm hoping it's the gasket, but I'm not too sure..

thanks for sharing! i'm very new to owning a mustang, let alone an SN95 - is a water pump one of the common issues with these?

the heat was on, i'm guessing this could be another symptom of a failing water pump? apologies for my car ignorance.. haha

depending on miles and how hard its driven a new pump out of the box can have problems

Ahh I guess you were wondering if it was condensation?

But yes, I wiped it up and it was green

if the leak was faster, or located elsewhere, then could some possible problems be the intake?

ya the heat and psi would push it out more , that drip is at the bottom weep hole on the pump

Glad to hear! Seems like a bad water pump is a cheaper problem to have when compared to other possible causes..

could one of the signs of a bad water pump be a "whining" or "whistling" (almost sounds like a supercharger was installed) noise when accelerating? this started to happen in every gear, including neutral.
