I purchased a 98 mustang today with a 3.8 v6 and fresh rebuilt trans. The motor is locked up. I was told I could drop my 1965 289 straight in and it would work for a drag car. Flywheel starter and trans would all work. Is this true? Any advice or guidance?

That’s an electronic controlled transmission, you’ll need the ecu to control that. When you install the 289, it’s going to remove critical sensors that the ecu needs to see for the transmission to work.

yeah save yourself some grief. either find a replacement v6 or shop for a gt mustang if that's what you really want. if you look hard enough you can find something at all price ranges.
