You so fancy
Was too good of a deal to pass up!

Awesome! Now what’s the plan for heads and other parts? How cheap do you want to do this?
Most likely going to stick with gen 3 top end. You can still get reman complete gen 3 heads for about $2,500 going to make some calls this week. Not about how cheap I can do it, I want this done right so i'm willing to spend the money, its not going to be all brand new parts but i'll do so where it makes sense.

Why would you go with gen 3 heads and complicate things with the direct injection? Now you’re going to have a high pressure fuel pump and direct injectors added to the fuel system.

I just want to keep it simple, i know it will cost more but i know all the gen3 stuff will work compared to mix and matching, adds more complexity that i don't feel like dealing with. Ive spent so much time and money on this thing I just want to drive this damn thing.

Putting gen 1 or gen 2 heads on the Gen 3 block will not create more problems, it’s will be easier. The Gen 3 direct injection adds complexity, and more points of failure.

Been sourcing parts and pricing out what i can part out from the built 2v. if anyone wants any parts off of that let me know as ill be posting it soon. Scored a sweet deal on a gen 3 intake manifold, with fuel rails, injectors, and throttle body! The guy I bought it form has a really nice notchback Fox that he put a supercharger on.

More goodies have shown up the last few weeks! have a soft goal to have the engine back in the car come mid-April but we'll see what happens. Reman heads showed up and honestly very impressed with them. Waiting on head gaskets and some other odds and ends before starting to get it assembled.

What would his compression ratio be with Gen 2 heads in a Gen 3 block?

Gen 2 is 57 cc heads and Gen 3 is 55.9 cc.

So the compression would be very close to 12:1
I know the main reason for the DI was emissions, but he mentioned possible boost down the road so the cooling effect will be nice to fight detonation with a high CR.

Well my goal of having the motor back in the car come mid April is long gone haha. Life has just been a whirlwind lately and shows no sign of slowing down. I have made some progress and still have a goal of getting the car on the road this summer. Also turned 30 this month :D

Have made some progress and the parts are quickly piling up! I believe i have all the major components needs to put the rest of the engine together minus small odds and ends. I Swapped in the boundary oil pump gears and I got the driver cylinder head mounted and torqued down, having a HELL of a time getting the cams to sit in the proper spot for timing. They don't want to naturally rest where they need to for timing and honestly not sure what to do to fix that. I have a video of my issue but forget how to post it here. Essentially what is happening is the cam lobes start pressing down on the rockers and then don't want to stay in place. I haven't found anyone mention this except for this one post on a different forum - https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/gen-3-coyote-camshaft-install-question.178816/

Would love some insight if anyone can help!
