Finished up the brakes. Next up is sub frame conns and rebuild the diff with 31 spline axles and gears.

So I've been driving my pile most every night near sunset because theres not many people out and I can put some miles on the car. I've been having the infamous 2v ticking noise. It comes and goes. Mostly happens when warmed up. I was convinced until tonight that it was a bad lash adjuster...but tonight it started with the banging/ticking and didnt go away. Really sounded like it's coming from the front cover. So now I'm thinking timing chain guides. So I said fuck it and pulled the drivers valve cover. Obviously some knuckle head had the covers off before and painted them and put some go fast decals on them. So I have no idea if the chains/guides were replaced. Maybe? But I took a couple pics and a video. My question is, should I be able to move the guide like in the video or not?

Here it is. Should this move? I have a screw driver between the guide and the head and it moves like that.

That movement is normal. We should be more concerned with the guide keeping tension on the chain. Based on the color of those guides, I don’t think they’ve been changed. That head says someone neglected oil changes.

Thanks. I thought the yellow color on the guides looked old also. The car has 200k on it. I'm just trying to keep it alive until I can get everything lined up for the swap.

Stripped that ugly ass valve cover. Replaced lash adjusters, new plugs.
Still fixing other people's shit.

Still working away on my junk lately. almost finished with the new carpet. i have some minor trimming to do, but its in and the seats are back in.

decided to put my Coyote swap on a little bit of a hold for now. i found some pi heads on the cheap. almost free, so i'm going to have Fox Lake do them up for me. I"ll probably go with some kind of cam also to make this thing boogie for a year so i can round up the coyote stuff.

meant to add some info. 3" bassani exhaust, alum driveshaft, sub frame cons, coil overs, control arms. just need the gears and rear cover installed and i'm done underneath for this year at least. next year its k member, headers and maybe a panhard.

so i've been fighting an oil leak and i've been so pissed about it i was about ready to leave the car in the garage for a while until i had some patience again. its the oil filter adapter where the pressure sensor is threaded into it. i finally figured out that the aluminum has a crack in it right down through the threads. So looks like i need to replace the adaptor. sucks.

Its good you figured it out now tho. The tiny crack could have evolved into a full on out dump while driving!

Be sure to replace with a mustang specific one. Most of the 4.6l came with what appeared as the same looking adapter, but they not. I helped a buddy swap out his leaky coolant cooled oil filter adapter with an adapter from a crown victoria. We managed to get it to work, but the angle of the water pipe wasnt the same. We were stretching radiator hose trying to make it work and we did, but i cant say running it for any length of time was a good idea.

I pulled one from a 97 f150 4.6 to install on my cobra worked fine
the water neck was just a little more bent upward and got a hose to compensate

yeah i noticed while trying to find one online that for the 99-00 its hard to find. of course. I think i noticed it looks the same as the 96-98 cobra adapter.
