2007 Big Bend Open Road Race pics

First info on the race itself.

The race was a month ago and i'm just now getting around to posting the pics :-[.

We did pretty good. We ran the 110MPH class which always turns out to be the most competitive class of the race.

There were 150 cars entered and i think 145-150 actually started the race.

The race consists of 2 legs each spanning 59 miles or 118 total miles. The object is to pick a target speed that you want to average over the 118 miles. The classes start at 85MPH and increase at 5MPH increments up to 155MPH and then unlimited.

The unlimited guys hit 210+ in the straights and the top unlimited car averaged 162MHP. All this through the twisting, turning and elevations with turns with blind corners and exits.

We finished 7th in our class of 25 cars and 31st out of 150 overall with an average speed of 110.038MPH or 1.3 seconds from target.

this guys number is 86 because he is 86 years old. he ran the 110 class

my friend's sweet 67 with a 462 CJ. he bought it brand new in 1967.
it's an original 390 big block car.

this car was just unbelievable. it's a 9.5 second QM car and did a gear swap for this race.

yeah i agree.. that 2000 turbo R was incredible.

that's cool you worked a gate! what about october? will you be working a gate then or competing?

yeah, i'm happy with 31st overall.. but i was off on my times by .909/sec each way whick came out to 1.8 seconds. subtract the 1.3 that we were off from that 1.8 and we were less than a half second from target.

we're stepping up to 115 from here on.

Compete huh? I'm barely sixteen bro, I registered here to find a good car in the classifieds. I got a few friedns that are competing though! But yeah I'm working the gate. I'm a resident here and I've been working the gates since I was seven. It's the funnest thing ever, lots of beer and fast cars!
