Best analogy right by silver95bird
"People compare the 4.6 to the 302, and the 5.4 to the 351. Its more fair to compare a 4.6 to a 351 and a 5.4 to a 408 stroker."

If you plan to build a na 5.4l, run the lightest components you can. Stock rods are currently the lightest affordable rods. Youll be seriously disappointed in performance with anything heavier.

Go to ModMax and get the light Chinese rods with ARP bolts, they are good to 450Hp
Could be from Taiwan I will have to look at the balance inspection sheet to see.
For engine No. 13 I used the balanced Chinese rod and the ceramic coated pistons that are made by NPR no matter what the box says. NPR was the Ford OEM piston and they are light and strong. I used some 90 gram wrist pins and got the mass as low as possible and I rev easy now...time to try the Eddy manifold.

I agree with the above statements. Mod Max has great prices on their OE style pistons. I'm getting ready to buy the "Mod Max flat top" at $280 plus the rings to choose from, but I would get file fit rings.
Basically you can have a great set for cheap!
I'm pretty sure their pistons are Speed Pro's without the Logo on them, identical.
