well i got an S trim coming for my car, and mostly likely an aftermarket intake, followed by heads and cam in the future.

I am contemplating on what gear ratio to go with?

My car is a daily driver, I am leaning more towards 3.55s, any opinions?

The two most common for a blown application will be either 3:55 ot 3:73. I have 3:55 and have traction problems. 3:73 will be even worse.

Good luck

Im sure you aret worried about gas but Ive heard that the 3:73's only turn about 125 more RPM than the 3:55's at HWY cruising speeds.

i have 3.73's on my blown cobra and i love it fast acceleration but traction can be an issue but im telling you my falkens hook and their street tires i spin all first and grab on second gear........ 3.55 are great gears tho for a blown stang also either one you will be fine with

I am running 3.73 gears. The only time I have traction problems if I am getting on it(then again I have that problem in 3rd gear). I also run drag radials. Just regular driving you will not have a problem.

I run BFG KD's for rubber. If I roll out of first and get on it my 1st and 2nd gear just spin.

Nice I think im gonna go with 3.55s then, your engine mods in your sig are almost identical, minus the gt40 intake.

I kinda just put the biggest gear I felt like in my stang. Then again I didn't know nitrous would be thrown into the equation so quick. I have the microswitch that gives me nitrous when in WOT. if I could do it again I'd go with 3.73's for sure. but if you plan to run slicks at the strip with a drag suspension then whatever tickles your fancy

Yeah,

It puts down
345 RWHP
364 Torque

What's holding my motor back are the factory heads :-X. I will be going with AFR 185's next fall. :thumb:

You have the mods and ur sig, including the gt 40 intake right?

Cause im gonna run a similar setup, but with a trickflow track heat intake, i hope to have similar numbers :)

Then heads cam in the future.

Yeah, I have the gt 40 intake. With the AFR heads I should be into the 400+RWHP.

With blower applications I would say 3.55. If you go witha a steeper gear you will find yourself running through gears really fast. Next spring when I put on my ATI Procharger I will taking out my 4.10s and run 3.55s. The blower will make up for alot on the bottom end. Guys with Cobra's usually go with a steeper gear 3.73 or 4.10 because there power band is alot different from a GT.
