How do you think a 3.73 Gear would work with my car? I'm not sure if my car has the stock gear in it or not because of the speedometer reading 8-9mph higher than what i'm really doing. I can get my hands on a 3.73 for pretty cheap so should I go ahead and get it or wait for a 4.10 Gear? A 4.10 gear is what I really want but if a 3.73 will work pretty good i'll be fine. My car is a 94GT AODE - Mac O/R H-Pipe, Cold Air Intake. Removed spare tire/jack. Only mods. Let me know somethin! Thanks!

a lot of the auto guys like to use a 4.10 gear, but i think 3.73's will do just fine. after the gears, throw in a good stall converter and top it off with a shift kit and you're set 8) the reason i say this is because im running a 3.73, stall, and shift kit in my 95 GT auto

Another point to make is that because your stcik with an AODE as soon as you swap to 4.10 the puter with be all screwed up. You will more then likely need a tuner to fix the problem. Many people forget that since the computer controlls the shifts points it needs to be recalibrated(sp?) for the new gears. I not the car will shift way to soon, those have used 3.73 have gotten away with not having to get it tuned. .02

Most guys with autos go with 4:10's, but you should be fine with the 3:73.

Didn't have to re-cal my computer with the gears, it shifts fine on its own and when you want performance, you just manually shift it. How worn is that 3.73 gear you are looking at? an important thing to look at is if there is uneven wear on it, becasue if there is, that bad boy will humm and it will drive you nuts. Thats why its better to just save up and get a new set of gears.

DON'T BUY USED GEARS!! They are cheap enough, buy new. I would go with 4.10's in an auto..they will be perfect. Just make sure you get the correct speedo gear, and everything will be fine.

Just like he said, buying used gears is pretty much like buying used brake rotors. Its nice to save a few bucks, but in the end you'll probably end up with a big expensive mistake. I bought a used set of 4.10's and ened up wasting the $100 I spent on them b/c they were unevenly worn.
