Since you already have split port you'd only be upgrading to the 4.2 for displacement. You can also stroke. If you can get the 4.2 cheap, go ahead. Its up to you, lots of people have made good power on the 3.8

Yea, I would bolt the blower on and go if you have good compression. Depening on miles though I might swap the head gaskets at least.

Only reason I would do a 4.2, is if you get one for $50 (like I did) or you plan to do a full build (like I'm doing...again) forged and all to push it.

I was also thinking...wonder how much I could get a 4.6 v8 for? Not saying I'm going to, just thinking out loud. Most likely will stick to the original plan of M112, p&p heads, p&p lower intake, and cam. What all goes into swapping to a 4.6? Need the wiring harness and computer from that car to go into the car its going to?

Yeah, you can find a 4.6 fairly cheap. It just finding a complete swap with harness and everything is hard and costly.

You do know how much a stock 2v makes right? Nothing impressive...
I was considering a 5.0 when I started but couldn't find a donor for a reasonable price. The v6 isq more powerful and interesting than a v8 swap I could have done.

yea, you will spend a lot more in a v8 swap than just buying a v8 car outright. and you would spend a lot less making your current v6 blow the doors off said v8

Not true ^ I bought a salvaged title but running gt for 1000, drove it home took what I needed and then I sold the body for 500 and the wheels for 500 so I did mine for nothing but labor.

I wished I would have done a pushrod motor tho..

It was slow, but I knew I wanted to build a v8 so this was a good start.

Its really what you want to do. Its all going to be expensive and time consuming, it the product you end up with and being happy with it.

Yea I kinda did, now that I looked on craigslist haha. But gotta be patient when trying to save money!

I think a higher power v6 would be sweet, and when I have a little extra money I want to build another boosted v6 to hurt feelings with haha

Yeah you got luck on that deal. I even had to pay a good amount for the 4.2... Ended up selling the truck for okay money though.

Yea you need to get into a vehicle and take what you need then sell the body. I think that is the best way to go.

That is ideal if it's an option, I would say most people don't have that though lol

True, it takes up a log of space. I'm doing it right now with my talon. Bought a donor car, so I've got two cars not running, and two motors in the garage. Luckily I've got patient parents haha.

Wonder if I could find a used kit?
Google for some v6 dedicated forums. You might find some! Most of the v6 mustang forums have unfortunately converted to the new v6 because of the huge potential in those.

Might come up on some generic mustang classifieds forums? Modded has a decent amount of v6.

Could also check ebay?

I'd want to know what is alll included at $3000. I feel you could do it a lot cheaper piecing it together yourself.
