Alright, I am sure this has been covered a million times already, but I am getting a few different answers in my searching around. I want to run a 255 width tire drifting with a gutted SN95 shell, which would be great at around 400hp. I want to run a simple single turbo build with a Megasquirt ECU. Now what I want to know is, is it worth modifying the engine at this point? Isn't the 302 block weak past 400hp to begin with? From what I've seen I can make high 300s on a stock engine. If this is in a thread already on here I missed, I would be more than happy with a link to it because this must be the most common question ever.
IIRC? and yea I got a 5.0 single 70mm turbo 50mm BOV 30mm waste gate.. putting down mid 400s .. 60# injectors.. all about air/fuel ratio... tuning/timing is everything and that will determine how much your car can handle... you can go to 500rwhp if you tune it correctly.. but once you modify it with forced induction, it can always blow even if somebody is playing it "safe" ya know
Actually the block splits from side loads, even if tuned right. 500 at the flywheel is about max. Some last above that, some not.
You should be fine at 400hp at the motor, anything over 450hp at the motor I would be worried, I have pushed a stock block to 600-650hp and the only problem I had was head gaskets before I hit the wall, so no more stock blocks for me http://www.theturboforums.com/threads/345202-88-Coupe-306-T70-C4-10-00-138-NOW-9-75-142 http://www.theturboforums.com/content/158-Stock-Block-Chronicles
