I know when you do ur gears u need a speed cal, motive bearing kit, and gear oil. but is there something else other than speed cal that u can use ? also how many qts of gear oil, like 3 or 4 ?I kno for tranny its 4 even tho u dont finish that 4th bottle.

The hand-helds won't correct the speedo's on our cars, just the 99+'s. But they are totally different from the speedcal.

if you are gonna install it yourself, you have to be very careful with the shims and such...many people that do there own work on their cars, let other people do their gears.

The only other thing you can do to correct the speedo is get a tune. I had a speedcal and when I had my tune he took the speed cal off and corrected it.

You can't correct a mechanical speedo (98-older) with a tune.....I am not sure what your tuner did, but I assure you compensating for steeper gears is not possible in the 96-98 cars through a tune.
