Okay well I am not dissapointed, but I still didnt get 15.xx. Reason being is I didnt launch great at all the first run and the second time I only wound her up to 5000 to see if I get better times. The first run I ran her up to 5500-5600 and got a better MPH, but had a 2.6 sixty foot because of being the first time on the 4.10s. Second run I had the best launch I have ever had 2.3 60 foot time and a .053 RT but I shifted at 5000 where theoretcally I should shift after looking at my dynos, but I always run slower when I do that so from now on its 5500 with my current set up and maybe 6500 once I get my top end built. What would be the best way to launch with the 4.10s and nitto 555s?
I forgot to mention that this was at 81 degrees with a absolute Barometer of 24.01 at 5800 ft. I weighed my car too and it came out to be 3450 pounds with me in it.
I would always feather the clutch and never dump the clutch and I got good times with that technique.I got my best times shifting at 5500-5600 rpm's.Also make sure you get those Nitto's nice and hot so your tires will stick to the ground better. Your racing weather looks good too. Just go to the track and practice the most you can. Try and get those 60' foot times down and your times will improve.Practice makes perfect Matt! :thumb:
Just a question, but why would you wanna take your motor to 6500? I know you said thats after you get your top end built, so does that mean youre gonna do cobra heads and intake? just wondering...cause i dont think a PI 2 valve with cams can rev to 6500 without shooting a rod through the block.
Nice Matty , those times will improve with practice. Your best way to approach the launch is to feather the clutch out of the line. You need to find the point where the tires are not going to break loose and push it as close as you can without them breaking free of grip. I don't remember your dyno chart, shift point should be adjusted to try to get you into or as close to peak torque going into the next gear (generally 300 rpm before peak), this will get you thru the gears and alot for better times, however if your way up in the rpm's before shifting you will have to adjust. I remeber you first runs and this one looks much cleaner all the way thru, Good job !!!!!!! :thumb:
If he has cams that take the powerband there, and springs to support it, the bottom end can take it. I shift mine at 7200.
Yeah I am going to get the top end built with ported PI heads, Aggressive cams, and do it right the first time and I plan on making power up higher. I will also be doing the springs and what not. Boomer here is my dyno graph.
Based on your graph it looks like 5500 is a good shift point for you. Unfortunately 4.10's are a poor match to your current setup and powerband. You probably have to either hit 5th or bump the rev limiter through the light's. But, I would suggest a quick burnout to clean the tires. Slip the clutch at about 3500, and continue to experiment with the launch rpm and shift rpm on test and tune nite.
Well I actually would have rather been higher up in 4th gear trapping, I was about (4900-5100) if i remeber correctly! lol but once I have my topend built a little bit, I think the 4.10s will be perfect! And I run a 245/45/17
well once I have my Ported PIs with aggressive cams in there I should be making power up to 6500 or better!
Wow I just corrected it and it says I should be running at [email protected] MPH at sealevel and optium condtions. At sealevel I believe this is a solid 14.2-14.5 car!
damn your sixty foot times seem kinda high. with my auto launchin at like 1200 i pulled 2.19 and 2.10. but the elevation was alot differant. i didnt know that would make that big of a differance
your weather was a little off Based on: Temp: 77° Humidity: 39% Track Altitude: 5830 feet Pressure: 29.86 in. but it was still Density Altitude = 8525 feet ET MPH Uncorrected 16.136 @ 87.52 Corrected 14.06 @ 98.8 good job though I was getting worried with a 16 sec timeslip
Where did you get that weather? the time slip said 88 degrees and barometer reading of 24.01, but instead of using that barometer reading i got the humitiy and pressure and everything at accuweather.com Thanks though!
weather underground and history for 8:55pm. but if your timeslip says the weather then go with that weather.
I run a 2.10 60' with street tires and bogging it off the line. Somethings wrong with your 60'..... or do you have a lowered car ??
