so this not technically about a mustang but it is about a 4.6. my aunt has a 2004 mountaineer that threw a bad cat code and she asked me to replace her o2 sensors. i was wondering if her cats are bad how would it affect the car to put a xpipe on it for a mustang or something of that nature it gets 14 mpg so i dont think it would effect that much and we live in sc so no emission laws?

The mid pipe is probably routed differently so a direct swap probably would not work.
If you want to put an o/r x then your going to need MIL eliminators to keep the CEL off.

How many miles are on it? 14 MPG's is horrible. Probably clogged cats. IMO, if you have the $ replace mid pipe and cats and all 4 o2 sensors.

To be honest 14MPG is normal, that's about what our 2005 Explorer gets

Like it was already said I highly doubt the pipes will come even close to fitting, the underside is very different from a mustang.

I have a 99 4x4 suburban 5.7 that gets 16ish. I would expect at least 20 from an explorer/mountaineer. Even a NPI mustang can get 24MPG's

Yep, it is another reason I hate that truck. Our old explorer was a 96 with the 5.0 AWD and 3.73's in both axles and it still got better MPG than this one

Both my Mustang (with the 4.10's) and the Srt8 kill this thing on MPG

You can get a mid-pipe, hi-flow cats, & get new "upper" or "primary" O2 sensors.
Hi-flow cats are 11"long and can be clamped or welded into any midpipe that has a straight portion of piping.
ProChamber's fit hiflow cats...F.Y.I...
