My friend is running a Coyote Swap in his Falcon and is have a speedometer issue. See question below:

"I'm running a sbi-100bt to convert the speed signal for my Dakota dash.

I’m getting pulse readings in every out setting if I’m going above 40-50 mph. The speedo is way off but i am able to manipulate it with the cal value. I can get the speedo to match gps at 60 mph in outs 2-3-5 playing with cal value.

I’m not getting any pulse readings in any out setting below 40ish mph. Pulse will go up once I get to speed and will stop counting if I drop below speed.

I need to figure out what signal the vss is giving the sbi100. Sine or Square?"

Thanks

Let me ask a few questions, please.

What generation coyote is he using?
What computer system is he using for the coyote?
How is he controlling the 4r70?
Does the trans have the stock electronic valve body in it?
What year is his transmission?

He said he knows they changed reluctor rings in 04. But that should only matter if he's taking a reading off the OSS. He's taking it off the VSS and is trying to figure out if that's Sine or Square signal and what the range is. I.E. 0-5V or -2.5 - +2.5V. His hypothesis is if it's -2.5 his signal converter may not know how to cross zero.
