I wish i could find the write up on fram oil filters. The whole point of an oil filter is to catch allllll the dirt and sludge that builds up in the motor. for every 100 Gallons of gas you burn 1/2 QT of sludge builds up in the motor (if i remember corerctly), and the Fram oil filter was the one that caught the least amount of dirt and sludge. I plan on hooking up an engine flush machine to mine as soon as i get her back. What people also dont know after ever oil change there is still 1/2 QT to a 3/4 of a QT of nasty oil left in the engine. (thats why when you change the oil, and you drive it the oil often looks dirty right after you change it)

I've been using the Fram filters and 10w40 Valvoline Maxlife. I think I'll give the others a try. Looks like there is some bad data out there for the Frams.
139,000 miles as of today.

I've used K&N, Napa Gold, and FL1A on my expensive motor and my stock 5.0.

I run synthetic in my expensive motor and Castrol in my stock 5.0.

I use the Purolator L30001 Filters, they're what I have readily available at work, but I use Pennzoil Platinum Oil, changed every 3k, why, because I could give a horse's left nut what filter you run, it's all about having great oil and changing it regularly, though I must say that Fram=Bad.

O.k. I'm a mechanic at my grandpas small engine repair shop. Well I'd like to say about 75% of people tell us that they ran pennziol in their mowers from day one and wonder why they blew up.

So I have to say I view Pennziol right next to fram.

ive always used motorcraft on my 3 fords... 99v6(sold) .... 95 cobra and 87 escort... had to put a head on the escort last year and everything was clean as a whistle inside. always has valvoline oil. plus since im a ford tech, there only 50 feet away in parts..lol i have friends that use k&n, but i just prefer motorcraft.. we use them everyday, and i havent really seen oil, sludge failures on anything we service every 3000 miles. hell my dads truck has 200k +, running motorcraft, no probs.
