Which motor would be a better choice if i was shooting for 300 whp and just as much torque ? I want to keep it N/A , Im open to head swaps , cams and bolt-ons . At the moment im leaning more towards the 5.0 for its larger displacement and ohv design . Would a new cam , longtubes , ORY , and cat-back get me to my goals with a 5.0 ? What would i have to do to a 4.6 to get those kinds of numbers ?

It's personal prefercence. Both can get 300 rwhp. 5.0 is cheaper so if youre on a tight budget then 5.0. Low end launch torq and room to make it a 347 go to the OHV, but the 4.6 can be punched to a 320+ something 324 I think. The 4.6 has better breathing in upper RPMs too. 5.0 Has a more muscle car sounding exhaust while the Mustang is loud raspy at times and almost exotic car sounding.

Not without a good set of aluminum heads like Edelbrock, Trick Flow or AFR's.

You will also need to change the upper/lower intake to reach 300rwhp.

If you are really going to do this post up some pics of your progress.

I know I would like to see it.

they both need the same things, heads, cam , intake ,and the supporting bolt ons to get to 300rwhp. difference is money, 4.6 are more expensive and harder to install.

and If I had a choice ( with my bank account ) I would do a push rod before I went modular

Yep, both can get it, the pushrod would cost less!

If you wanna stay N/A. Go with a pushrod. Simple Trickflow or Holley package will get you damn near 300rwhp. Or you could piece it together like AFRs, good cam, and Edelbrock intakes. If you didn't mind staying N/A I would say do a 4.6. A bonestock 2v with a P1SC at 10lbs will get you around 380rwhp with good drivebility.
