95 auto has to start in 1st

alright so just got my car and I am having an issue with the trans possibly where I have to start all the way down in first and it's an automatic otherwise it stalls out

after I'm going down the road I can shift up to drive but I need to know if this is the trans going to crap or if it was rebuilt to do this because the previous owner has had this since he got the car a while ago when he got it from the second owner

Check the Transmission range sensor and TPS. Mine was outta whack and couldn't start it unless I put it in neutral.

I can't take off unless it's in first I can start it in neutral or park like normal but I can't go from a stop without being in first
