Hi all,

I need a good source of switched 12V in my engine compartment. The wire I did find goes hot when the ignition is turned on, but goes to 0V when the starter is engaged (that's not going to work well for me).

I'm not using the factory engine bay wiring harness. I have the tach output of the MSD box driving my dash tach through the big connector on the passenger side firewall connector, but I would prefer to find a source under the dash.

Thanks, CobraRGuy

Sucks I'm on business travel because I have the OEM diagram for the heavy gauge connector going into the steering column which is probably the best bet for tapping into a hot-in-run & start wire. I'll have access to it in a couple weeks, if someone doesn't beat me to the punch by then. FWIW, it's the large rectangle (with a slanted edge) connector that is held in by a captive screw off to the driver side of the column.

Well I have two solutions. I ordered one of the Littelfuse doohickeys, and I located a main engine compartment wiring harness connector pin 32. I can do that quickly, but I have to wait for the Littelfuse device to arrive before I can switch it over. One's fast, one's going to get done later.
Thanks everyone.

The ignition harness is the only other place to find this ignition wire. If you split it off there, or by the coil it would not really matter as they both have the same power source.

What are we hooking up?
