It's been a rough few months to be an environmental inspector on the pipelines in OH and WV. More rain = more work and we are swamped. Finally got some time tonight to finish up the engine bay wiring; the alternator and harness are good to go.

Started on the boost gauge as well, don't know where to hook everything up but it's mounted at least. I destroyed my rear defrost trying to take off the glue from the back window tint of the previous owner so the non-functional defrost button was a perfect place to mount the boost gauge I got for free.

Fired it up for a few seconds and it runs rough but I hope the new fuel pump fixes that.

Dropped the tank in about 10 minutes, spent the next two hours trying to disconnect the fuel lines from the pump. The plastic disconnect tools are garbage, getting some metal ones tomorrow and carrying on. Everything is soaking in a copious amount of PB blaster so that should help with removing the retaining ring, probably gonna pick up a new ring and gasket while I'm at the parts store

I hate those things... the biggest thing I find with the fuel fittings is to twist them as you push them in. Sometimes the plastic work, sometimes the metal work... don't throw out the plastic if they did not work this time.

i have the best luck with the set that has all white disconnectors. the multi colored ones are junk, the metal ones i had were just as bad. they arent long enough to release the spring locks. i think i got the all white ones at autozone. score bonus points if they come on the black plastic stringer.

Went to Autozone on the way home and looked for the white plastic set you suggested @Silver95bird but they didn't have them. Found an aluminum piece that looked like it worked, this tool did the trick in less than a minute!

My retainer ring is pretty much toast, I've been looking online for the right part but the reviews keep saying that the ones sold at AM don't fit. If anyone has a lead on where to purchase a new ring and gasket for a 96 gt let me know.

One of these days I’ll drop my tank and start replacing everything. Luckily I’ll be eliminating those factory fittings. I always hated those.

Disregard the issues in the last post. I've got low expectations from working on Ohio cars so I assumed the worst (retainer ring disintegrating). After going through a can of PB blaster and ruining a few plastic wire brushes I managed to get the ring off and bend it back to a functional position. The fuel pump was easy to change and it's installed in the tank with all the new hardware/gaskets. I've got a long day tomorrow at work but I'm hoping to re-install the tank this week and fire it up again.

Pretty sure I got an extra ring in southern indiana I can send

I appreciate that man, I think mine will hold up but if you're trying to get rid of it PM me a price and it wouldn't hurt me to have a spare

Reinstalled the fuel tank and fired it up. Seems to be running ok but there is an intermittent miss. I'm guessing another one of my crappy solder points broke on my homemade COP harness; I'll figure that out as time allows. I can't figure out how to upload video so here's some photos from today and yesterday:

Theses guys kept laying on the concrete next to me as I lifted the tank, any support is appreciated lol

I see your tapping away, videos need to go to youtube or another source and then post the link. Solder joints breaking?

I've missed too many nice days that I'm kicking myself into gear!

I don't know why but my first COP harness I made broke in several places I soldered and caused a misfire. I made a new one (which I thought was much better) this spring and I just worry something broke moving the harness around so much

I wired in my cheap boost gauge to the radio power wires, surprisingly it seems to work.

The car starts fine and seems to idle decently now. Just ordered a remote tune from @2002BLGT at dirtydirtyracing.com for my SCT X4; he has experience with these superchargers so I'm hoping for the best.

Got the tune loaded from @2002BLGT
and the car idles pretty good but I need to get some new parts (spark plugs, a/f gauge, and possibly better injectors since I bought cheap ones). It's blowing some blue smoke out the tailpipes but I'm glad it's running.

It seems like I have an intermittent miss but it's hard to tell. I may have ran the vacuum lines incorrectly too, boost gauge is reading a vacuum and I'm not sure I ran this hose properly since it smooths out a bit when I disconnect it. If anyone has input let me know!

that boost nipple should have the vacuum actuator, the fuel pressure regulator (!!!!) and any guages run from it.

Ahh that explains a lot! I'm going to be out of town for a week but I'll hop on that when I'm home. That should make quite a difference. If you get a chance could you show me a photo of your setup? I'll check your build thread if you already posted one.

Thanks for the help!

You will read vacuum until your pushing the pedal enough to be making boost.
