The Tach in my 96 Saleen Speedster is beginning to fail. I have a friend that has a gauge cluster from a 97 GT. Will the 97 tach hand motor work on the 96 cluster? I've read that somewhere around 97-98-99 something was changed in the way the info is sent to the gauges and I want to make sure I'm not wasting my money on the 97 cluster. Also, the Saleen speedo goes to 150 instead of 120 like the 96 GT's.

Are you just pulling the stepper motor out of the GT cluster? I assume the redlines are the same, or at least the numbers line up on top of each other?

98 is the year you'll want to avoid. The harnesses and pin outs are different. Using a 97 should work no problem

Well, I was going to recommend a place you could send it for repair but apparently the feds shut them down for odometer tampering. Pity. He did excellent cluster repair for stepper motors.

Are you saying the stepper motor is different? He has zero intentions of using that cluster assembly.
