97 gt vs 89 LX

so i have a friend at school that just got a 1989 LX. Its only got 80000 miles and seems to be in pretty nice shape. His only mods are 3.73's and catback.

My mods are CAI, Offroad X, flowmasters, and 3.73's

Just wondering how bad he would have me? the race would be from 0-90ish

oh yeah he also weighs about 275lbs and still has spare tire, and a cabin full of garbage..hes kind of a slob
i ditched my spare tire, and only wiegh around 170 so i hope to make up a little ground in the weight department

yeah i planned on it, only problem is that its snowing out right now, so i was just looking for some input on what to expect

no idea, but knowing how slow nonpi's stockish are.. you'll probably lose.

i vote the fox since they weigh less. but it should be close.

we are both 5 spds....

i have to admit his car feels a lot faster to ride in...im not sure if its just because im used to my car or what :dunno:

his car is most likely several hundred pounds lighter and makes the tq/hp sooner and doesn't run out of power after 4500rpms so the 5.0 fox should be able to beat you by about .5 seconds in a 1/4 mile run. The NPI Intake and Cams just don't allow your car to breathe after 4500rpms so after the 5.0's initial TQ jump you won't be able to catch him on the big end.
