So im thinking of selling my 97 Gt and buying a 95, the only thing is im not really sure if the change from a 4.6 to a older 5.0 is going to be noticeable performance wise. Stock vs Stock what are the ups and downs, oh and the 95 im looking at is a convertable.
I would take that bet, any of the fox coupe 5 speed speed density 5.0 cars would run and hide from a non PI stock vs stock. OP, if you live in a warm weather state and drive the car often, then I would encourage you to seriously think about the convertible, or if the vert is a 2nd car. Open air rides are still top notch in my book. if your wanting to add mods in the future, then neither car is the ticket, try for the 99-04 or fox 5.0 cars. My .02
OP, each car has it's advantages and disadvantages. Either can me made quick if you are willing to put the time and money into it. All said and done, it'll pretty much be a wash as to which ends up better. The main difference here I think is do you want a convertible. Unless there are other differences (one is in much better condition than the other), that's really the only factor. So if you want a vert, go for the 95. If your 97 is in good shape, why get rid of it for a 95 unless it's in better shape? Or you just like 5.0 motors. Either way.
5.0 only if u wanna mod it. Aftermarket is much cheaper for pushrod than npi shit box lol. That looks like an opal frost vert. If its in good condition id trade.
Both cars look clean, but I know at around 20years old you should just go with whichever one is in better overall condition. It's not gonna matter what motor you have if it blows after 5k miles on it after you buy it. Less rust, miles, better paint, interior and no tired as motor, trans, or rear.
Pushrod 5.0s are shit? LOLL what a funny guy. How much money does it take to make a 4.6 fast? Lot more than a 5.0. I'll take a 5.0 over a 4.6 anyday (96-98). If your talking about the 99-04 4.6s, obviously there better..
OP. If you got the dough, and want a vert go with the 5.0. It'll be cheaper to upgrade and make more power with less effort. If you want a coupe, keep the 4.6. But its going to cost more to make it fly. Stock for stock, 5.0s are quicker than the NPI 4.6s.
10 people have 10 opinions as evidenced by this thread... Do you really wanna start over with a fresh set of issues or work towards fixing/modifying what you already have a wealth of knowledge on...
Coyote swap ftl. Dare to be different then todays bandwagon in crowd, build a pushrod. If I want to see a Coyote or a Coyote swap, all I have to do is look at any new Ford mag. Its lame...
