Its more complicated than it needs to be in my shop. Because I do DOD and Aerospace work I have a lot of rules I have to follow. One of many is any job on the shop floor has to be accompanied with a traveler that has bar codes. With that bar code traveler there needs to be material certs and all kinds of other stuff. I get surprise audits for the company that maintains out certifications and there are monetary fines as well as other penalties for infractions. So it is much more expensive to do jobs here than a lot of other shops that specialize in commercial parts. Thirty plus years ago we went after this kind of work. Now I have to live with the rules as imposed.
