Got a couple of questions I'm looking to find answers to...

1. Is it feasable to change the a/c compressor yourself or is it better to have someone do it?

2. When recharging the system, how much refrigerant should I buy?

3. How much oil should be used, and what viscosity?

Thanks a lot for any information given... I appreciate it!!

:dunno:

I can't answer 2 or 3, but I can tell you replacing the A/C compressor is no big deal. Only four bolts mount it to the accessory bracket, and you'll need to disconnect the A/C lines of course. Oh, and one electrical connection.

the comp. should come with the oil in it already. they normally use just a few oz's. 5-10 of refrigerant which you can buy in a can at a auto parts store. some of the lines have special connectors on them that you have to have a special tool to get off. just look under your hood and see how they are attached to the comp.

it is really easy. i replaced mine in a few hours. the hardest part was taking out the battery tray to get access to it. the bolts were rusted and i ended up breaking the tray. but only $15 to replace. anyway, easy to replace. i had a shop recharge it, but it came already filled with oil. so it should be an easy day. :)
