Advice on starting a new engine

Hi all I’ve all ready been given some advice on starting the new engine like priming the fuel system a few times before starting and cranking the engine over with the plugs out a few times to build oil pressure but I have some more questions. First off have I made a mistake, I have not filled the oil filter with oil it’s still empty, should I off filled that first before starting?
All so I’ve read that I should of pruned the oil pump by injecting engine oil into the putter slot on the oil filter housing which would prime the pump, is this true?
Or am I just looking into this to much?
Should I just crank the engine over and let the engine do all the priming or will that damage the engine ?
