I have a 95 GT and am putting in a Panasonic aftermarket radio. I bought a Metra 70-5510 harness since I have the Mach 460. I am clear on matching/splicing the wires for power, ground, amp turn on etc from the Grey 8 pin to the radio harness. Here is the question: I believe I have to tap into the RCA connectors on the Black square 8 pin , matching the colored wires from the radio to the corresponding colored RCA connetors. Can anyone verify my logic? Thank you.

it wasn't written on the package? worst case plug one in and you will see what speakers it goes to.
The colored matching is on the package. I just assumed the RCA connectors would have a more obvious place to tie into .

I am confused which is easy to do :), it sounds like your radio does not have rca outputs then? Otherwise if it did it should be easy to find where they plug into.

The radio has 2 RCA outputs. If I plug everything in as delivered, the speaker wires coming out of the connector to the radio purple, green , white and grey are hanging. My question is do I leave them unconnected or do I have to splice them into the RCA connectors. The RCA connectors are purple, green white and grey which obviously match the speaker wires coming out of the radio connector.

ok, gotcha. The RCA outputs are a low voltage level output from the deck used to connect to amps that then amplify the signal. It then takes that signal and runs it through a simple amp to make the speaker outputs that go to the speakers. Generally you use one or the other depending on if you have amps(like the mach system does) but that is not to say that you could not hook up the mach amps, then power additional speakers from the deck but it isn't really recommended as the deck speakers will tend to start distorting before a set with a good amp behind them. In your case I would be careful to insulate the speaker wires not used(any wire not used) because if they short out it can turn the deck/amp off.

I got the system working. I assumed the RCA's needed to be plugged in to the back of the radio. In my case they are not used. I wired directly from the radio connector to the black square connector matching the colors, no RCA plugs used. I then plugged the black square connector into the stock mating harness. Regardless all is working now.
