If price is a major factor, just replace it with an OEM PI intake manifold. The current ones from Ford have an aluminum cross over and are much better than early ones.

Following some of the leaky pi intakes on any modular (trucks, cars) we're finding the plastic is giving up to age. Although the intake has an aluminum crossover, their is still plastic sandwiched between it and the gasket. That section is failing. Since Montaplast dont make the pi intake anymore, the Ford surplus will run out, and the aluminum intake is priced the same as a new surplus, it just makes sence to get an all aluminum version. I agree totally with you, it makes sense, but for those keeping their 4.6l 2v's an aluminum intake makes sense, and the price makes it right.

they sell the Al intake for the same price as the plastic? That just sounds nuts. Hey how much do they go for now? I am considering buying as many good metal intakes as I can find to put away till all the plastics do fall apart.
