as he said for any newb a Haynes manual is great or if you can afford it pay the extra and get an old ford OEM dealer manual. They cost 2x as much but give 4x s much info imo.
Alt is a great place to start as it is on top and easy. You just need to remove the serpentine belt by putting a breaker bar/ratchet in the tensioner and turning. Once the belt is off just disconnect the electrical connections and then remove the 2 bolts that hold it in place. Now the AC will require a little more work and again a manual will give a step by step with pics to help.
