I dont know much about alternators, but mines on its last leg and im thinking about rebuilding it.

What size alternators are in our cars? I wanna say its a 130amp?

A local place here said they could rebuild it and make it bigger to about 170-190 amps for under 200 bucks, and have it done in 1-2 days.

Is it worth it to rebuild it or just find a new one? If i bought a new one i would want at least 200amps, From how i understood having too much amperage is like having too much money in your wallet.

If i go with a new one whats a good brand?

    Your thoughts?

I would go with a local rebuilder LONG before I would trust ebay and that is because I have bought an ebay special and then took it to a local rebuilder after it broke 8 months later. He said that it didn't look too bad inside but that the regulator was just too mickey mouse and would have never held up in a high current application.

Unless you have a large stereo you do not need it, not much bang for your buck.

130 is stock and a decent size for the years they came in.

I have a 200 amp from powermaster and it has held up. I installed @ 2000 so it was solid for 10 years of daily driving and still works today.
