Today at work, I had some down time so I seperated and labeled all of the gaskets and seals and I also disassembled one of the PI heads I bought. Everyting was clean. I think I'm going to replace the valve seals while it's apart just for that reason. I hot tanked the head for three hours, cleaned all the valves, and I'm soaking the lifters (followers) and rollers in oil overnight. Here's a quick picture of the head disassembled after I got it out of the tank. They still look a little dirty, it's just a bad pic (it was from my phone)...

Work has been real busy lately. My new valve seals arrived today. I also used the valve compound to clean up the seats on the heads. The way I did it was an older method. I put the lapping compund on the valve where it seats, stuck it in the matching bore and on the other side, I used my electric srewdriver with a piece of vacuum hose attatched to the valve and screwdriver. Then I just lightly spun it and tapped the seats until they looked like new. I don't have a picture of this, but I will take it when I do the other head. I'm currently regrinding the exhaust valves because they were pitted. I'll get done one of these days. :).. Here's a picture of the new valve seals and lifters that went in today...

Re: And the PI Swap Begins... With New Pics

I regrinded all of the valves, cleaned the heads, hot tanked them, soaked the lifters and rockers in oil for a few days, and leak tested them. The heads are finally ready to be put in. O0... In 2 weeks, these will be going in. Here's where I'm at now...

*I'm a little pissed, though. I have a set of BBK LT's and a set of 3.73s that I wanted to put in while doing the head swap. I ran out of funds, though. I still need a few things:
-a new mid pipe for the LTs, EGR delete kit, tuner, Speed Cal, stage 8 header bolts, header gaskets, and the bearing kit for the rear. I fell about $600 shy. :'(... Oh well, the PI swap will have to hold me over until I can get the rest done. :dancing6:
