A friend of mine said that he read somewhere that retarding the e cam by 2 degrees will make it run even better. Anyone else heard of this?

Yes advancing or retarding the cam can move the power band
by a slight amount.

Advance to lower
Retard to raise

Don't think just 2 degrees will do enough to make much difference.

You might have to go with about 4 degrees
but
That is how it was with old school flat tappet cams
so
Check to make sure

Do you have anymore useful info Ryclef? O0

Not to do it cause is wasn't worth the driveablity I'd be giving up. It would shift the power band up by a few rpm but it would be a DOG in lower rpms. Since I have a vert, I need all the help I can get in lower rpms. So forget it was the verdict.

ok if you advance and retard here is what will happen!

Performance

Shift power curve down
Advancing the Cam Approximately 200 rpm
for a 4 degree change

Shifts power curve up
Retarding the cam approximately 200 rpm
for a 4 degree change

Adavancing the cams Piston to valve clearance
Intake valve loses
Exhaust valve gains

Retarding the cams Intake valve gains
Exhaust valve loses

Advancing the cams Valve Timing
All Timing events occur sooner

Retarding the cams All Timing events occur later
