Yeah, I know it may seem like a stupid question and a no-brainer to boot, but I thought I'd ask it anyways! I can already imagine that the majority of you will say... (cough)5-speed(cough). The reason I'm asking is because I might have the opportunity to buy a 1994 GT with an Automatic Tranny for $3000 CAD in the near future. Are there any drawbacks to an automatic in terms of performance mods and the works? Would you go for it, or wait for a 5-Speed to come up for sale? Thanks a bunch for your help. Also, sorry if this is in the wrong section!

Are you talking about SoddyRebel's in the Classifieds? Looks like a nice car, but not sure about how I would go about getting it up to Canada, and any fees with brining it across the border would probably cost an arm and a leg.

I've driven both.

The auto is nice if you like to cruse smooth. you cans slap shift it if you wanna work a little more.
the manual is more of a feel-of-your-seat.

Depends on your preferance.

I like my auto. Its fun to drive with a 3000 stall and 4.10's.
I dont go to the track much, but its mean from redlight-to-redlight.....lol

Ive had both and a std. is more fun to drive, but Im 6.4 and an auto is more comfortable for tall fuckers like me.

Don't stock autos dyno at lower numbers?

yes there is a bigger loss in the drivetrain with a automatic. 15% manual and 20% automatic is the norm

Actually it's 15% power loss on the manual, 17% loss on the automatic.

also with the automatic, you get a little more torque on the top end from the convertor.
