Some of you are probably thinking it's 2005 with this tread title lol.

Does anyone have actual experience here in making them? I'm having some big troubles getting my runners out. I already chipped an ear off I need to weld back on. I've tried heat and prying and its not working. I finished up the imrc deletes now I'm full in on this project

Problem with heating aluminum is its properties wick the heat away and shed it fast. Its next to impossible to get the heat needed for the glue to release by using a small torch or hand held torch, especially propane. If it were a big propane torch, you would have a fighting chance. Acetylene is dirty but alot hotter than propane. You might have to preheat the entire intake to something like 350° or 400° before attempting spot heating with a torch.

Really appreciate that. I thought that could have been the case. Just going to bring it into work today and fire up the oxy acetylene

I truly believe these intakes is what killed B head potential. But how else could Ford package an intake on a huge engine in a tiny engine compartment.

I agree 100%. On a good note thank you. It took the extra heat to getting it off like you said but I got it all apart. Only one minor casualty but it's easily repairable

I'm not sure if you'll be able to see this post, but Matt Hayes from NEP does custom short runner B Head cobra intakes.

These pictures are from 2017, he does an even cleaner job these days.

Not a bad weld job. Definitely has me beat. But hacking up an intake doesnt exactly make it better. Nothing about this work says effective for naturally aspirated, but if the new gained space was for adding in a water intercooler for forced induction, maybe.

IMO the only way this could really be an improvement is if you went ITB's and used the plenum as the collector so you could filter all the air easily.

he does pretty awesome work. Ive talked to him a few times about things. Almost bought a bullitt mustang from him last month. Anyways you can track him down on Facebook. I'm going to have him do some work on a mach 1 intake for me. There's a write up on engine labs lately where they are building a 4v NA and they are using his intake along with some Todd Warren cams etc. I've basically decided i'll be using their recipe for a 4v street motor.
