Ive known this for awhile. Uhm....say about this time last year. Well, it was a strong speculation. When the intake machines/tooling began to arrive at work, it was easy putting together the puzzle that the same physical engine was getting destroked. The 6.8l info was there and the intake size was unchanged.

Good question. Maybe not save money with this platform. Perhaps save money discontinuing the bastard 6.2l.

Destroking points to higher rpm performance. Not like itll gain or lose more hp by destroking a naturally aspirated engine. Itll definitely have less torque. The strange aspect is this newer intake has revised runners and a quarter of an inch bigger diameter throttle body opening and it supposedly the 6.8l intake. Well...thats how the information flow here at work is going. It dont make sense tho to use the "bigger" intake on the smaller engine. Not a typical ford move. I wonder if the camshaft will remain the same.

Watching media about the 7.3l Godzilla, it has gained major popularity with swaps. From chevy trucks, mustangs, thunderbirds, and classics. If ford was smart, they'd ditch the coyote in favor of a small godzilla. Just my opionion.

Imo this is what the mustang has needed, a big cube pushrod v8. Yes the coyote is a great motor but it needs more displacement.
