They dont sound bad. I guess you could say they sound good. They definitely reduce the harshness of straight pipe. Nice low rumble at idle. Muffler sounds are so subjective do to variations with cat converters or Xpipe and Hpipe. The video is not a prefered sound for my taste with my toys. Loud and most obnoxious as possible for me! Different story for my daily.

I look at these every few months. The Flowmaster 40's, x-pipe(no cats), and Mac long tubes on my Cobra sound weird. Very metallic and hollow.

It's supposed to sound that way, the flow 40's is the original design and has a very distinct chambered sound. What you have is objectively the best combination for a 4.6L, it's what most people ran for forever.

For whatever reason the combo is just weird on my pushrod 302 Cobra. I have been looking for an h-pipe for a while but they are hard to come by.

FWIW I have an X-pipe(no cats) with Super 44's on my GT(Also 302 pushrod) and it sounds completely different. Smooth and deep.

In the 90's we all ran H-pipes...

Yall remember Mac exhaust? The company brand was a popular and signature sound for mustangs back in the day. A quick search revealed that they are still in business! I remember the prochamber mid-pipe they had was a hot ticket. I love loud exhaust and they were on the loud side.

Oh it's the 302.. yes they need an h-pipe for tone. The original 40's sound very different from the 44's as well. With the modular 4.6L you want an x-pipe especially on the 4v version. It also depends on where the mid pipes and mufflers are placed, even tip size can change the overall tone, larger tips make it sound more like a truck.

Do we remember the Mac.. DO WE REMEMBER THE MAC CHAMBERS.. the exhaust that made everyone go out and buy a Terminator in 2005..

I don't think you can find that exhaust anymore, closest you'll get are the Spintech pro street mufflers which is what I'm going to switch to. On the fence because they're very loud.

"FP Performance" (FP=Flowpath) is making clones of MAC now....

Ross
Could you link an example of the product? A quick search revealed Mac flowpaths but that was a long time ago. I'm interested to see them as a potential spintech alternative.

Ultraflo mufflers sound amazing.
Calm at cruise speeds and then they have a real bark to them when you get on it.

Holy crap.. that's exactly what I was looking for in a muffler. Aggressive chambers with low drone, stainless 304 at an affordable price. Thank you Ross.
