Back about 15 years, Saleen and other mod companies were actively buying new GT Mustangs, removing the factory exhaust, and selling them at bargain basement prices to V6 folks like us. Are these NOS factory duals still available? If not, what's your best aftermarket upgrade to true dual that you've used, presuming price is top of mind. Not interested in loud. Thanks!

You could always grab v8 exhaust, take it to a good exhaust shop and adapt it in? Otherwise im clueless to any company that offer exhaust for a v6 mustang. I remember back in the day there were some supporting companys. Not sure if they still exist.

Thanks, I actually found a decent set of cat-back mufflers and pipes on eBay that had been salvaged from a '95 GT convertible with low, low miles. They're on the way!

I think from the factory, the 94-98 V6 Mustangs do not sound very good. The equal length manifolds that Y into a single exhaust just sound too “clean” for me.

If I were you, I would try removing the crossover from the V8 exhaust you have coming and see how you like it. True duals. It will sound dirtier, not louder. If it is too much for you, you could always put it back.

Back when I had my '94 V6 and upgraded with cat back exhaust harvested from new GTs from Saleen, I thought it sounded pretty good. But I'm not really in to exhaust, per se. I just wanted to put a little more stink on it, lol.

there is always the option of going to your local exhaust shop and asking them what they would charge to do it. It would not be the cheapest option but it might be the best that is assuming it is a good shop doing good work.

Yes, I made sure I spoke to a local shop before I ordered the used GT exhaust. Said it should be easy peasy!

yea the right shop should not have any problems with it. The only other problem is they will HAVE to install cats if you were hoping to go catless unless you can find the right shop that will do the work for cash and no receipt....

I'm fine with re-using my existing cats. We don't have emissions testing where I live, but I'm not really interested in deleting them.

I’m glad you are keeping your cats. I feel cats make the car sound better. No cats is too raspy, kind of like a pack a day for 40 years kind of guy trying to sing opera.

I think you will be happy with a GT exhaust. Post sound clips!

I did a Flowmaster Force II on my 96 V6, with a Pacesetter true dual H behind the factory cats. It was pretty nice, the Force II uses Flowmaster 50's which have both the "delta flow" junk and a tuned resonator, didn't drone or rasp.

I also put a Magnaflow system on my wife's 02 V6 but it's dual outlets, not true dual. The factory Y is still there. What's weird about that is it seems highly dependent on temperature because it's very loud on cold start and then gets quiet as the exhaust warms up. I like it, but I like it a lot less for the first 5 minutes. I think the Flowmaster 50's were considerably quieter and didn't seem to have the same sensitivity to temp. or air density.
