Hey guys I'm looking for an exhaust setup for my 1998 V6 that sounds like a deep, muscle car-like sound. Currently I just have Y-pipe stock setup. Thanks!

It will never happen with a V6. Swap in a V8, then it will sound like a muscle car.

I'd rather buy a V8 than swap one. I know it won't sound like a V8 but I'm trying to see which system is the one that can be the closest to sound like a muscle car.

    Mac catback + a H pipe.

You can make a v6 sound good.

Mac is by far the best option for it, magnaflow mufflers sound good on the v6 also, but I think the Mac mufflers are louder. All the big time mustang sites have the cat-back and you can even get it on eBay.

You will never truly get a v8 sound without a v8 but my answer to your question is

    OPEN HEADERS

Found that video with a simple youtube search. Try searching v6 mustang open headers. If emissions is a concern then scratch that idea.

Go with a common brand, just search youtube for the brand you like. i am sure others have been in your shoes in the past.

    Try americanmuscle.com

Best sounding exhaust on an otherwise stock sixer? The stock exhaust.

I would do headers, h pipe and chambered mufflers all in one shot though..

Headers are pointless cpotts. Stock ones are pretty decent.

Shorty's yes. long tubes no. Just for sound alone they're worth the money. Plus they are super cheap for sixers.

I had a 2.5inch Hpipe and Mac flowpath mufflers on mine. Had a great idle with my cam but still sounded like a 6 when you get on it. Here's my car wound up to about 5-6k rpm lol.
