I bought a Cobra R hood from Craigslist and I want to strip the paint. I would like to use Aircraft stripper but I don't want to damage the hood. Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks!

if its fiberglass or a poly hood then you ain't gonna use aircraft stripper. You would be better off sanding it down.

DO NOT USE AIRCRAFT STRIPPER.....

You won't have a hood left!! Lol

Gonna need some old fashioned elbow grease and some sandpaper. You could start with a da but I don't recommend it unless you are confident you have a steady hand and a good eye as you will leave high/low spots.

Really you just need to get a couple sanding blocks and paper and go at it.

If the paint is sticking good then why strip it at all? Scuff, prime/seal, paint, clear.

I think this will be my best bet. I just wondered if anyone had an easier way.

Thanks guys!

I remember seeing a post recently of an aircraft paint remover that was made for plastics and fiberglass, anyone know about this?

I have used a really weak paint stripper called citristrip that is slow enough it might work but I would still sand/scuff for my prep.

I searched their website, looks like they have a flexible plastic and a fiberglass version
