Went into town to wash my 94 HCI before winter, decided to do one last pull before she sits in storage. Turned down a straight away and let her eat...then a loud clunk! I let off and tried giving it gas, it just revved up. I coasted to my house since it was close enough, I did a few tests and found out I have reverse, first and a little bit of second. At about 2k on the tach in second, it just revvs up and whines without catching or going into 3rd. Is is time for to swap in a new AODE or possibly a T5 if parts are available for the 94 95s?

Put it in manual 2nd and check for slipping and engine braking while letting off the gas while its still in manual 2nd. That alone will tell you a lot. Also run codes to see if its an electral issue.

Since there was a big bang most likely its internal trans and Im guessing its the overdrive band. When you stepped on it, did it downshift from 4-1 or did you start from a stop? Honestly either way youre likely looking at a rebuild or replace.
