Hey guys, I've been on the forum for just over a year so I thought it would be time to properly introduce myself and start a little build thread on what I've been working on for the last couple years. I'll do a quick recap and bring it up to speed. I'm from Ontario, Canada and live within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). My car is a chrome yellow '95 GT that was purchased with 75K kms (47K miles). The car has no rust, never been hit and has original paint. Cosmetically, the previous owner added the Cobra front bumper, Cobra R wheels and the Cobra badging; but to be honest I'm not sure how I feel about the badging and have contemplated debadging entirely. I do like the look of the Cobra front bumper so that will stay. I have since added 25% tint, lowered, chrome Saleen wheels, 2.5" Cobra R hood and a S281 wing. This is my first SN95 but I've had 7 previous Foxes over the course of 24 years. Looking back, I wish I would have kept at least one of them! Some of my past setups have been N/A, Nitrous and Supercharger so my goal with this one was to go Turbo, which everyone tried talking me out of Lol. Starting Point: The car came with some decent bolt-on goodies including GT40 heads, GT40 intake and B303 cam. It also had a BBK cold air intake, 75mm mass air and BBK 1 5/8 LT headers and catted X-pipe along with a 373 gear. This combo yielded lower than expected results on the dyno with 257rwhp/297rwtq. Here's a pic of the motor when I got it: And this is how the car currently sits with my added touches: This is a great forum and I'm happy to be here. Sorry for the late and long winded intro! More to come...
looks great man....I would probably take the badges off myself and shave everything as well. Great looking car!
Love it...for sure the Cobra bumper looks much better than GT...i had both...sticking with the later one I also prefer the OEM Cobra hood...over any other hood out there... Love the wheels...minus the chrome...just not a chrome guy here Not big fan of the wrong badging either...which previous owner of my car had as well... Its a great car! good luck in any direction you chose to take it!
Thanks man! I'm playing a little catch up here but I'm going to make this thread more direct. Your vert is gorgeous!!
Forgot to mention in the 1st post that the very first mod that I did before anything else was a set of Steeda full length subframe connectors with the torque boxes reinforced.
July 2014 - Turbo install by D'Sousa Performance Around my parts, Joe D'Sousa is known to be a turbo specialist and one of the best in the business at tuning. Long story short, the following things were done to make this happen. Prep: - basically all the bolt-on goodies that were on the car were removed except for H/C/I - ditched the A/C since I never use it and it provides more space - the stock bottom end was left untouched New Parts: Cooling - custom order triple pass radiator, back to stock water pump pulley, 160* T-stat Fuel - 340 stealth pump, Deka 60lb injectors, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, fuel pressure gauge Electical - MSD Digital-6 plus, MSD Cap & rotor, SCT chip, SCT Mass Air-BA5000 Misc - 3 pod pillar gauges, Turbosmart manual boost controller, T4 turbo blanket Turbo - ON3 70mm turbo kit (*required lots of tweaking to get to fit in a relaxed state but that's another story*) There was also a bunch of little things such as header wrap, heat sleeves etc but the above noted are the bigger items that I can think of now. Here's a pic of the motor after the install:
August 2014 - Dyno Tuning I didn't go crazy or get greedy and requested a conservative tune knowing it was a stock bottom end with the hyper pistons. In the end, the car purred like a kitten, drove like a stock car and ended up settling at 415rwhp/440rwtq. Considering where I started it was a total increase of 158rwhp/143rwtq which I was very happy with! Here's the last dyno pull: https://vimeo.com/130442796
glad to know there are lots of Canadians on here im also from Toronto I drive a 95 shinoda mustang convertible with 25000 miles
Sep 2014 - T56 tranny I came across a great deal for a T56 with Quicktime Bellhousing, Motor plate, Shift Fork and Steeda Tri-ax shifter. The season was coming to end in my parts so I just put it aside. October 2014 - BBK Control arms and Flowmaster Catback install The BBK control arms worked better than expected and I ditched the quad shocks. While I was ditching stuff, the dogbone got tossed out as well. I have always like the sound of flowmasters with pushrod motor so I stuck with them again.
January 2015 - Brand new motor built by D'Sousa Performance Fully Built Dart Sportsman 347 (Short Stroke) Turbo Motor with custom turbo cam, TFS heads, Victor Jr. intake, Wilson elbow, Wilson throttle body, fully ported etc
March 2015 - New motor dropped in, Turbo and T56 installed April 2015 - New fuel system installed April 2015 - Battery relocated and Kill switch installed May 2015 - all buttoned up and back together. The car has been tuned for idle and driveability and will be going in next week for WOT tune. That about summarizes where the build is at. Thanks!
May 14, 2015 - Idle and driveability tuning Short video of working on the tune... Other misc items done in May 2015 - Personalized plate switched over - cleaned up where battery tray use to be - re-painted intake pipe - painted brake calipers black
June 17/15 - Prep for WOT tune I dropped off the car this morning for a few things to be done before the WOT tune: - Install Wideband AFR gauge - Extend TPS wire/plug - Adjust roller rockers - Install new plugs - Oil change Other things done in June: - Had a few minor dings on the body removed - Adjusted and shimmed drivers door - Tucked a few more wires in bay As of this post, the build thread is current
